Dutch painter (b. 1631, Leiden, d. 1695, Antwerpen). Son of Jan Davidsz. de Heem. He spent a great deal of his life in Antwerp, where he was taught by his father. Cornelis also worked in Utrecht in 1667, in nearby IJsselstein in 1676 and in The Hague from 1676 for more than ten years. His best works approach the quality of his father's, particularly in works executed during the decade starting in 1655. Cornelis's still-lifes can be distinguished by daring colour harmonies, sometimes with a strong blue. Heinrich Eddelien
Matthias Heinrich Elias Eddelien (22 Januar 1802 in Greifswald - 24 December 1852 in Stuer) was a Danish history painter of German origin. Eddelien arrived in Copenhagen as a young man and attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1821 studying under Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg. In 1837, he was awarded the Academy's large gold medal. From 1839 to 1843, he travelled to Italy and Germany to widen his studies. He painted portraits, altarpieces and decorative works, including the Pompeian Apartment in Christian VIII's Palace at Amalienborg Palace. His principal work is the decoration of Christian IV's Chapel in Roskilde Cathedral but this led to the laming of his right arm. He died when receiving spa treatment at Stuer.
Nikolai Yaroshenko
(Ukrainian: Mykola Oleksandrovych Yaroshenko; Russian: December 13 [O.S. Dec. 1] 1846 in Poltava - July 7 [O.S. June 25] 1898 in Kislovodsk) was a Russian painter of Ukrainian origin. Nikolai Alexandrovich Yaroshenko was born on December 13 [O.S. Dec. 1] 1846 in the city of Poltava, Russian Empire (now in Ukraine) to a son of a Russian Army officer. He chose a military career, but also studied art at Kramskoi's drawing school and at the Saint Petersburg Imperial Academy of Arts. In 1876, he became a leading member of a group of Russian painters called the Peredvizhniki (also known as the Itinerants).
